Artist Statement:

"I was inspired by the hobbies section in the "H" book of my mom's old 1950's encyclopedias. There I found a whole slew of fabulous photos of children and adults engaging in hobbies that today, seem to be forgotten. I wanted to call attention to these hobbies, but by using animals as the participants, in a series of 9. The other eight I am currently working on, and will have hand-drawn/-painted pictures of those in my etsy shop." -- Roxy Marj

Letterpress is a centuries-old printing process. It involves an inked and raised form being pressed into the paper, creating an impression that you can see and feel. At Sycamore Street Press, we hand crank our goods one sheet of paper and one color at a time through our vintage Vandercook #3 letterpress. We pay close attention to detail, but the hand crafted nature of the process does lead to some variation in color and impression. These are an inherent part of the process, and add to its bespoke charm.
